These solutions have been part of a turnkey training program for Employee Personal Safety both in the office and on the road driving.

Distracted Driver Training:  Behind the Wheel Safety & Awareness

The purpose of this course is to make drivers aware of the variety of distractions they may face while operating a vehicle. Using that knowledge, drivers should be better equipped to drive defensively to prevent an incident and respond quicker to constantly changing environments while operating a motor vehicle. The ultimate goal is to reduce the likelihood of crashes and mitigate injuries resulting from traffic crashes, as well as reduce the $60 billion loss to the insurance industry each year.  For more information on the Distracted Driving Training. JERRY McCORMICK is the Chief Safety Officer for Personal Safety at Work.  He has been an associate member of IIABCal since December 2019.  He was also a keynote speaker at our 2019 Annual InsurPATH Conference at Universal Studios last November.

He utilizes his 30 years of experience as a police officer, and as a personal safety expert where he researched more than 300 incidents of Active Shooter cases dating back to the 1970’s, and then helped develop training for thousands of public safety professionals on how to respond to active shooter incidents. In addition, he has transitioned into a role of providing employee personal safety training after researching why police officers are rarely victims of Person on Person Crimes.  Jerry has interviewed more than 9,500 police officers.  This information was used to help employees learn how to deal with a myriad of workplace and public threats that extend beyond active shooter situations.  This is especially true in the Era of COVID 19 and Civil Unrest.

"What’s more important than your safety and that of your co-workers and loved ones?" McCormick asked. "Staying safe is a priority for all of us.  In our world of instantaneous communications, we are subjected to horrific images of violent incidents from around the world and are led to believe these tragedies are happening as a daily occurrence.

"The focus of my training on personal safety is a broad and comprehensive topic," he said. "I train attendees on how to protect against or avoid altogether, the common threats that are around us in our everyday lives."
