Earthquake Strikes Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO, CA , Jan. 4, 2018 -- A 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck early Thursday morning in Berkeley, California, according to a preliminary report from the US Geological Survey, jolting residents of the San Francisco Bay area.  

The earthquake hit at 2:39 a.m. PT centered near the Berkeley-Oakland boundary. There were no immediate reports of damage in the area, the state Governor's Office of Emergency Services said.
